I went through a period of time honing my craft digitally during one figure drawing event after another. I eventually got to the point where I could virtually paint what I saw in my minds eye from the nude model on blankets in front of me to a woman who appears to be asleep in a field of grass, but has never been more alive in her life than being exposed to the world in her natural element. I wanted the viewer to also ask what it was SHE saw over the horizon in order to practise putting ourselves in someone else’s shoes.
It’s my hope that in this too one sees the parallels of ideology - we are moving through a time where we are learning to bare our souls, which is infinitely more challenging than sharing our naked bodies with each other. There is also an element of a story in the feathers tattooed on this model, but for that you might PM me for the ’backstory.’
